Instagram Makes it Even Easier to Build Meaningful Relationships with Your Followers
This week, Facebook is hosting its annual F8 conference, an event where they roll out changes to their apps and invite the community to try out new bleeding edge features.
As usual, we’re following all changes to Instagram closely and try to keep up with the development. It seems that the Instagram team has been fairly productive lately and we’re here to tell you all about it. We already reported the recent
A whole new Explore page
For starters, the Explore page is getting a fresh new look. Following the announcement users will be able to follow specific hashtags, Instagram is now making it even easier to discover posts by adding categories to the Explore page.
As Verge reports: “The Explore page will now feature buttons on the top of the page in a carousel, giving users the option to swipe through subjects like animals, photography, and architecture to see more posts about that particular topic.”
For individual users, this means more time spent in app and less time spent hunting for interesting content while businesses will be able to get in front of their customers more easily. If you were struggling to get on the Explore page before, it might just be easier if your posts belong to a popular category. This is good news for brands who already have a strong niche and a specific target audience since your posts are now more likely to appear in front of the right people.
If you’re still struggling to define a target audience or choose the type of content to post, we have some fresh feed ideas here. It also might be a good time to do an audit of your content and see how you can give more context to your posts to fit in a popular category.
Video calling in Instagram
Video calls are coming to Instagram! Users around the world will soon be able to chat with their friends on Instagram too! After videos in Stories, this feature comes as another way to keep users engaged and gives celebrities and influencers a chance to really connect with their audience.
If you’re running an Instagram business account, this feature might seem obsolete but we’re very excited to see how you will make use of it. Some ideas might include giving certain members of your audience a sneak peek into new products / projects, giving personal video tours of spaces you work at (perfect for museums and galleries) but also just striking up a conversation with your followers and learning more about them.
